How to remove location data from a photo

  1. Choose one or more photos (JPG, PNG or WebP).
  2. The tool shows what it found in each one: location, device, date and other hidden data.
  3. Press Download. The downloaded file contains none of that information.

It matters most before you post a photo in a classified ad, a rental listing or a forum. A photo taken at home can reveal your home address.

Frequently asked questions

What hidden data can a photo contain?

Phone photos usually carry an EXIF block with the GPS coordinates where the photo was taken, the phone make and model, and the date and time. When you share the file, that data goes with it.

Don't social networks remove it anyway?

Most large social networks do. Email, classified ad sites, forums, cloud share links and files sent in chat apps often do not.

Will the photo lose quality?

No. The tool does not re-compress the photo, it only removes the metadata blocks. The image data stays bit-for-bit the same.

Will my photo appear rotated?

No. The single orientation tag that keeps the photo upright is kept; everything else is removed.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser and your photos never leave your device.
